The Titanic, circa 2005, is going down fast. Millions of anti-war United States citizens knew from the
get-go (2000) that our government and country had been taken over by the
Nixon mob of Watergate fame. The stolen election of 2000 brought
the Nixon men back into the White House. There was Donald Rumsfeld (defense
secretary under President Gerald Ford after Ford pardoned Nixon),
Irv "Scooter" Libby, Paul O'Neil (deputy budget director in the Nixon and Ford
administrations), et al. This warmed-over Watergate-era regime even tried to put Henry Kissinger
back on the White House payroll. Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson,
former chief of staff to Colin Powell (the general and spinmeister who lied
to the world about weapons of mass destruction at the United Nations), stated,
What I saw was a cabal between the
vice-president of the United States, Richard Cheney, and the secretary
of defense, Donald Rumsfeld, on critical issues that made decisions
that the bureaucracy did not know were being made...Now it is paying
the consequences of making those decisions in secret, but far more
telling to me is America is paying the consequences.
Beer and Pretzels
I, for one, am celebrating with a
box of pretzels and French champagne as the first of many indictments
has come out. Scooter Libby is the first to be indicted, but he is
far from being the last. This is the beginning of the soon-to-be
long string of indictments served on the
fascists that have taken over the United States. These haters of the
Constitution and destroyers of anyone that gets in their way deserve
that special place in Hell where they can continue their Texas barbecues
fired by the flames of the people's disgust of them. I'll settle
for them occupying a nice cozy jail cell in one of those for-profit-prisons that they
set up all over the country in the past few decades. Having Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld,
Karl Rove, Paul Wolfowitz, etc., i.e., the entire "cabal" behind bars
in one of their prestigious palaces of neo-liberalism's incarceration
would go a long way toward letting the world know that the
situation in the United States is not completely hopeless.
How is it possible for the United States,
a nation once viewed by the world as a protector of human rights, to
have become a nation that
condones torture? Look what they have done to our country!
The Bush regime has no qualms about bending the Constitution and
international law to fit its greedy needs. Its operating paradigm
is that the ends justifies the means. We
have Ollie North and his gang to thank for this. In
The End, Accountability Richard
Nixon eventually fell and George
Bush's time is coming. Bush will be held accountable for his
crimes just as Richard Nixon was. And so, the stage is set for a
2006 equivalent of a Barry
Goldwater coming forward and convincing George W. Bush that he must
resign or face impeachment and certain conviction by the Senate.
We are fast moving toward the scenario where unless George W. Bush resigns
he will go to jail along with Scooter Libby, Dick Cheney and the rest of
the criminals. While everyone
knows that you can work out and stay in shape while in jail, Bush won't be clearing brush on
the ranch from behind the Wackenhut prison bars. With some luck George,
the Turd Blossom, a.k.a. Karl Rove, can crack some rocks together. After
they complete their first ton of cracked rocks, I will send them a
Mission Accomplished card. Adding
fuel to the fire fast intensifying the meltdown of the George W. Bush
residency is Joe Wilson and his wife Valerie Plame who plan on being the
first litigants to depose White House officials since Paula Jones.
Bill Clinton may have orchestrated some extra-curricular activity with
Monica Lewinsky,
but this White House bunch have been screwing the country and killing
people for 5 years now. The
chickens are coming home to roost on chickenhawk Dick Cheney and
friends. The
levy has broken on this White House as insiders spill the beans more and
more. The indictment of Scooter Libby is a small crack in
slow motion in the hull of the Titanic Fraud as the Plames emerge ever
hotter. As the tip of the prosecutorial iceberg penetrates deep
into the corrupt vessel of State, an enormous mass of people's
discontent is about to sink it. Good bye, Scooter. Good bye,
Dick. Good bye, Karl. Good bye, Paul. Good bye,
George. Ta ta, Condi. Go away, Scotty. Parallel
Lines Being Drawn More and
more, the parallels between Vietnam and Iraq are being drawn.
Vietnam had the Gulf of Tonkin incident fabrication. Iraq had the
fabrication about weapons of mass destruction. Vietnam had Agent
Orange. Iraq has depleted uranium. During Vietnam, the White
House and military vastly overstated the "progress" being
made. Only the ideologically blind accept the lie that progress is
being made in Iraq. The military has started issuing daily body
counts in Iraq just as they did in Vietnam, overstating their
"successes" through inflated numbers. Somehow, the
citizenry is to believe that progress is being made with every
"insurgent" death count announcement. Look, we killed 50
today! We're moving forward! Vietnam had the Vietnamization
of its conflict. Iraq has the Iraqization of its conflict.
Ronald Bruce St. John, in his piece posted on The Progress Report,
"Sorry, Mr. President, but Iraq looks a lot like Vietnam",
states:
I served a tour of duty in Vietnam in
1970-71 and returned in the late 1980s for the first of several
prolonged visits. Based on my experience, Iraq today looks more and
more like the Vietnam I knew firsthand as an army intelligence officer
more than three decades ago.
And, both Vietnam and Iraq were wars of
choice. Neither country posed any direct threat to the United
states. Elizabeth de la Vega, in
"The White House Criminal Conspiracy" (TomDispath.com Oct, 30)
provides the facts whereby,
The evidence shows, then, that from
early 2002 to at least March 2003, the President and his aides
conspired to defraud the United States by intentionally
misrepresenting intelligence about Iraq to persuade Congress to
authorize force, thereby interfering with Congress's lawful functions
of overseeing foreign affairs and making appropriations, all of which
violates Title 18, United States Code, Section 371.
Shame on you George W, Bush. Plamegate,
the 2005 Watergate Tom Hayden
writing for Common Dreams, Oct 30, 2004 in "The Watergate
Parallel" asks, "Is history repeating itself
today?" Hayden, in comparing Watergate to George W. Bush's malfeasance
writes,
In both cases, the Administrations
committed political hubris, going beyond the legally-permissible
simply because they were able to...Republicans in particular, will
defeat themselves by going too far once they monopolize power. Some
never learn. Among the repeat offenders from the Nixon years are
Rumsfeld, Cheney and Buchanan.
Vietnam had its unindicted
co-conspirator, president Richard Nixon. Iraq has the soon-to-be
unindicted co-conspirators, resident George Bush and acting president
Dick Cheney. Tom Hayden asks, "Will history repeat
organizationally? Will the movement evolve a political arm, and succeed
in wrenching power from the wounded executive branch?" If
democracy is to survive, it will. If the Constitution is to remain
a viable framework, the people will succeed in demanding the executive
branch relinquish its neo-con grip on power. Richard Nixon
resigned for the good of country. George W. Bush, will be forced
to do the same. I am sure of it. For the good of the nation,
George, and your own sake, resign! Otherwise, the fast sinking
ship of State will go down with you on board and history will offer no
lifeboats. Do it now.
Hail to “George W. President”
Words by George W. Bush, 2000-03
Arranged by John McCutcheon
Well, I was born in west Texas, pretty
near California,
Far away from Dad’s home in D.C.
Well, I’m talking about myself, and they’re talking about myself,
All of us are talking about me.
Now, some may retort, “Personal attacks.”
Take the high horse and claim the low road.
But I am not a revengeful person;
I’ll simply respond with this ode.
When I delivered the State of the Budget address,
I offered up a question or two.
How can a man still put food on his family?
Will the toll booth to the middle class become more few?
No, it’s time to make the pie higher.
This idea is sure to resignate.
This is no time to be subliminable —
It’s time to unificate.
You see, when there’s more trade, there’s more commerce,
And we’ll bring this solution to an end —
Even if your business is hispanically owned,
Whether you speak French or Mexican.
We’re working for a hopefuller country,
No longer balkanized.
Where humans and fish can coexist,
And each act civilized.
I think we can all agree that the past is over,
But still we’re held hostile everywhere.
These days we don’t know who they are,
But we certainly know that they’re there.
No longer inoculated by the mistakes of the past,
With a foreign-handed foreign policy,
We’ll keep good relations with Kosovoans and Grecians,
And avoid emotionality.
Now, we all know that reading is the basics of learning,
And learning . . . well, I forget the rest.
But teach a child to read and he or her
Will pass a literacy test.
So I ask you, is our children learning?
Will we tolerate failed subsidization?
Or will this be where wings take dream
And not a cufflink of federalization?
So if you’re tired of the politics of polls and principles,
It’s time that you joined his campaign.
See, we’re looking for women who will serve this country,
And never the House will they stain.
With our basics as the faith of our faith,
Where a troop can house his family,
We’ll find power to power the power of the power plants.
No, you’d best not misunderestimate me.
With every word and every breath
Our language dies a slow, sad death.
Hail to the chief, let’s give him hail —
Part Yogi Berra, part Dan Quayle.
